CSIC-UIMP Master on Integrative Synthetic Biology

Mastering the intrinsic capabilities of biological systems will contribute to better understanding the basic principles of life - and its emergence from lifeless components – and provide powerful tools for novel solutions to outstanding environmental and health-related problems.

Official UIMP-CSIC MASTER on INTEGRATIVE SYNTHETIC BIOLOGY
Engineering molecular and cellular systems
Pioneer master program whose academic activities are carried out within the cutting-edge scientific environment of leading CSIC Biocentres

I edition
(2021-2023)
NEW COURSE (2022-2023):
Beginning of classes:
- WELCOME SESSION (attendance of Master students from edition I and II, first and second year): Monday, October 3rd, at 11:00 h, at Salón de actos del CIB Margarita Salas CSIC - www.cib.csic.es
- INAUGURAL CONFERENCE (attendance of Master students from edition I and II): Friday, October 7th, at 10:00 h, at Centro Nacional de Biotecnología (CNB) - www.cnb.csic.es (Campus de Cantoblanco).
This inaugural lecture will be given by PROF. TOM ELLIS, from the Imperial College of London. Title: Ten future challenges of synthetic biology.
- Regular classes (MISB2) will start in October 4th, at CIB Margarita Salas. The academic calendar and classes program, as well as other activities corresponding to the first trimester (seminars, workshops, etc) will be announced between 19th-23rd September.
- Teaching activities (training workshops, lab rotations, etc.) corresponding to the first edition of the master (MISB1) will be announced between 26th-30th September.
II edition
(2022-2024)
The Master on Integrative Synthetic Biology (MISB) is a two-year (120 ECTS) advanced research school - co-organized by the UIMP and the CSIC - to provide graduate students (from life and physicochemical sciences to technology and engineering) with an integrated program of training, research and innovation on synthetic biology in a cutting-edge scientific environment.
The mission of MISB – the first graduate school on synthetic biology in Spain - is to prepare the next generation of synthetic biologists, which require novel ways of exploring living systems: engineering to understand and master biological complexity.
